Description
A healthier version of the classic mozzarella sticks, made in an air fryer for a crispy, gooey treat without the guilt of deep frying.

- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Prepare the mozzarella cheese sticks by cutting them in half if desired.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with Italian seasoning.
- Dip each mozzarella stick in flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally roll in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Place the breaded mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 6-8 minutes, checking for doneness.
- Remove the mozzarella sticks from the air fryer and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Freeze the breaded mozzarella sticks for about 30 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.
- Check the mozzarella sticks a minute or two before the timer goes off to prevent overcooking.
- Feel free to experiment with different dipping sauces.
