Ingredients

  • 1 lb ziti pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook ziti according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Combine cooked pasta, sausage, and marinara sauce in a large bowl.
  6. Spread half the pasta mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Top with ricotta mixture, then the remaining pasta.
  8. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  10. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
