Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: 2 ½ cups (320 g)
  • Granulated sugar: 2 cups (400 g)
  • Unsalted butter: 1 cup (226 g), softened
  • Large eggs: 4
  • Baking powder: 1 tablespoon (15 g)
  • Milk: 1 cup (240 ml), at room temperature
  • Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons (10 ml)
  • Blue food coloring: 1-2 tablespoons
  • Frosting: 4 cups (about 1 batch of your favorite buttercream)
  • Colorful sprinkles: for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  6. Stir in the blue food coloring until the desired shade is achieved.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
