Ingredients
- 🌾 All-purpose flour – 2 ½ cups (310 g)
- 🍬 Granulated sugar – 2 cups (400 g)
- 🥚 Large eggs – 4
- 🧈 Unsalted butter – 1 cup (226 g), softened
- 🥄 Baking powder – 1 tablespoon (15 g)
- 🥛 Milk – 1 cup (240 ml)
- 🍦 Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoons (10 ml)
- 🍰 Frosting – 2 cups (for topping, store-bought or homemade)
- 🎉 Colorful sprinkles – 1 cup (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer for about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
- If desired, divide the batter into separate bowls and add food coloring to create different colors.
- Pour each colored batter into the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Once cooled, frost the first layer with frosting, add the second layer, repeat, and then frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Decorate with colorful sprinkles on top and around the sides of the frosted cake.
- Slice and serve the cake at your celebration.
