Ingredients

  • 🍬 Granulated sugar – 2 cups (400 g)
  • 🥚 Large eggs – 4
  • 🧈 Unsalted butter – 1 cup (226 g), softened
  • 🥄 Baking powder – 1 tablespoon (15 g)
  • 🥛 Milk – 1 cup (240 ml)
  • 🍦 Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoons (10 ml)
  • 🍰 Frosting – 2 cups (for topping, store-bought or homemade)
  • 🎉 Colorful sprinkles – 1 cup (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer for about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  6. If desired, divide the batter into separate bowls and add food coloring to create different colors.
  7. Pour each colored batter into the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Once cooled, frost the first layer with frosting, add the second layer, repeat, and then frost the top and sides of the cake.
  9. Decorate with colorful sprinkles on top and around the sides of the frosted cake.
