Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder, then gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the whole milk.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
