Description
A heartfelt homemade birthday cake for my husband, filled with love and personalized touches.
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 2 ½ cups (310 g)
- Granulated sugar: 2 cups (400 g)
- Large eggs: 4
- Unsalted butter: 1 cup (226 g), softened
- Baking powder: 2 ½ teaspoons
- Whole milk: 1 cup (240 ml)
- Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons
- Frosting: 3 cups (store-bought or homemade)
- Sprinkles: 1 cup (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder, then gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the whole milk.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the entire cake.
- Add sprinkles generously over the frosted cake for decoration.
- Slice and serve the cake at your husband’s birthday celebration.
Notes
- Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
- Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
- Experiment with flavors by adding chocolate chips or fruit.
