Description
A creamy chicken mushroom onion dish that combines tender chicken, earthy mushrooms, and sweet onions in a rich sauce.
Ingredients
- 🍗 Chicken Breasts: 4 pieces (about 1.5 lbs or 680 g)
- 🍄 Mushrooms: 8 oz (225 g), sliced
- 🧅 Onions: 1 medium, diced
- 🧄 Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
- 🥛 Heavy Cream: 1 cup (240 ml)
- 🌿 Fresh Thyme: 1 teaspoon (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
- 🧂 Salt: to taste
- 🧂 Pepper: to taste
- 🛢️ Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
Instructions
- Prepare all ingredients by washing the chicken, chopping onions, mincing garlic, and slicing mushrooms.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the seasoned chicken breasts for 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the chicken and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté onions and mushrooms for 5-6 minutes until tender.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in heavy cream, add thyme, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over it, and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot, drenching the chicken in the creamy sauce.
Notes
- Can substitute chicken with turkey for a lighter option.
- Experiment with different types of mushrooms for varied flavors.
- For a lighter sauce, use half-and-half or coconut milk instead of heavy cream.
- Brining the chicken beforehand can enhance juiciness.
