Description
Classic Beef Stroganoff is a beloved dish that brings comfort and warmth to the dinner table. This creamy, savory meal features tender strips of beef, sautéed mushrooms, and a rich sauce, all served over egg noodles.
Ingredients
- Beef Sirloin: 1 lb, cut into thin strips
- Mushrooms: 8 oz, sliced
- Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Beef Broth: 2 cups
- Sour Cream: 1 cup
- Flour: 2 tablespoons
- Egg Noodles: 8 oz
- Butter: 3 tablespoons
- Salt and Pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Cook the egg noodles in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet, add beef strips, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, add chopped onion, and sauté until translucent. Then add mushrooms and garlic, cooking until tender.
- Sprinkle flour over the vegetables, stir, and gradually add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Reduce heat, return beef to the skillet, add sour cream, and mix well. Heat through without boiling.
- Serve the beef stroganoff over the cooked egg noodles and garnish as desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding Worcestershire sauce or Dijon mustard.
- Fresh herbs like parsley or thyme can enhance the presentation and taste.
- Adjust the sauce consistency by adding more broth for a thinner sauce or more flour for a thicker sauce.
