Description

Classic Beef Stroganoff is a rich and creamy dish with tender beef strips in a savory mushroom sauce, served over egg noodles or rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt butter. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
  3. Add mushrooms and cook until tender.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well.
  5. Gradually pour in beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  6. Add Worcestershire sauce and simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Reduce heat to low. Stir in sour cream and Dijon mustard.
  8. Return beef to the skillet and heat through.
  9. Season with salt and pepper.
  10. Garnish with parsley and serve over egg noodles or rice.

Notes

  • Use tender cuts of beef like sirloin or tenderloin for best results.
  • Do not boil the sauce after adding sour cream to avoid curdling.
  • For a thicker sauce, increase flour to 3 tbsp.
