Description

Classic Diane Steak with Mushroom Sauce is a luxurious dish featuring tender beef steaks topped with a rich, creamy mushroom sauce, perfect for special occasions or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 🐄 Beef Steak: 2 pieces (about 6-8 oz each) of filet mignon or sirloin.
  • 🍄 Mushrooms: 8 oz of cremini or button mushrooms, sliced.
  • 🧄 Garlic: 2 cloves, minced.
  • 🧅 Shallots: 2, finely chopped.
  • 🥃 Brandy: 1/4 cup.
  • 🥛 Heavy Cream: 1/2 cup.
  • 🥫 Dijon Mustard: 1 tablespoon.
  • 🥫 Worcestershire Sauce: 1 tablespoon.
  • 🌿 Fresh Parsley: 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish).
  • 🧂 Salt and Pepper: to taste.
  • 🛢️ Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons (for cooking).

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of the beef steaks with salt and pepper and let them sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat, add chopped shallots, and sauté for 2 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking for an additional 5-7 minutes until mushrooms are golden brown.
  4. Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet and sear the steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  5. Remove the steaks and let them rest on a plate, loosely covered with foil.
  6. Pour in the brandy and flambé, allowing the flames to subside before reducing the heat to medium-low.
  7. Stir in heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, adjusting seasoning with salt and pepper.
  8. Return the rested steaks to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them, and warm through for 1-2 minutes.

Notes

  • Let the steak rest after cooking to ensure juiciness.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for desired doneness.
  • Choose high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • Be cautious when flambéing; have a lid nearby for safety.
