- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the topping:
- 1 cup shredded smoked Gouda cheese
- 1/4 cup honey
- Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle maker.
- Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- Combine the wet ingredients in a separate bowl.
- Fold in the smoked Gouda.
- Pour the batter into the waffle maker.
- Cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove and serve with honey drizzle.
Notes
- Can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- Leftovers can be frozen for up to 2 months.
