Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the entire cake.
  10. Decorate with sprinkles and serve!
