Description
Filet mignon with creamy mustard parmesan sauce is a rich and elegant dish that combines the tenderness of filet mignon with a velvety sauce, perfect for special occasions.
Ingredients
- Filet mignon: 2 pieces (about 6-8 oz each)
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
- Salt: to taste
- Pepper: to taste
- Heavy cream: 1 cup
- Dijon mustard: 2 tablespoons
- Grated Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup (plus extra for garnish)
Instructions
- Take the filet mignon out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to allow it to come to room temperature.
- Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
- Once the oil is hot, sear the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, aiming for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C).
- Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate, loosely covered with foil.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add minced garlic, sautéing for about 30 seconds.
- Pour in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard, stirring to combine, and let it simmer until slightly thickened.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Slice the rested filet mignon and place on serving plates, drizzling the creamy mustard parmesan sauce over the top.
- Garnish with extra grated Parmesan and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the steak is cooked to your desired doneness.
- Let the sauce cool before storing it in the refrigerator if making ahead of time.
- Feel free to experiment with different herbs or cheeses in the sauce for variations.
