Description

Filet mignon with creamy mustard parmesan sauce is a rich and elegant dish that combines the tenderness of filet mignon with a velvety sauce, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • Filet mignon: 2 pieces (about 6-8 oz each)
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Salt: to taste
  • Pepper: to taste
  • Heavy cream: 1 cup
  • Dijon mustard: 2 tablespoons
  • Grated Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup (plus extra for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Take the filet mignon out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to allow it to come to room temperature.
  2. Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  4. Once the oil is hot, sear the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, aiming for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C).
  5. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate, loosely covered with foil.
  6. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add minced garlic, sautéing for about 30 seconds.
  7. Pour in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard, stirring to combine, and let it simmer until slightly thickened.
  8. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  9. Slice the rested filet mignon and place on serving plates, drizzling the creamy mustard parmesan sauce over the top.
  10. Garnish with extra grated Parmesan and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the steak is cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Let the sauce cool before storing it in the refrigerator if making ahead of time.
  • Feel free to experiment with different herbs or cheeses in the sauce for variations.
