Ingredients

  • Fresh green beans: 500 grams, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  • Frozen hash browns: 450 grams (about 1 bag).
  • Cream of mushroom soup: 1 can (about 300 grams).
  • Shredded cheddar cheese: 2 cups.
  • Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped.
  • Garlic powder: 1 teaspoon.
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste).
  • Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste).
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon (for sautéing).

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and blanch the green beans for 3-4 minutes, then drain.
  3. In a medium skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the chopped onion for 3-5 minutes until translucent.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the blanched green beans, sautéed onions, frozen hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven, add the remaining 1 cup of cheese, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until melted.
