Description

A classic homemade lasagna with layers of pasta, meat sauce, and creamy cheese filling.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Brown ground beef and sausage in a skillet. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, half the mozzarella, Parmesan, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Layer noodles, meat sauce, and cheese mixture in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Repeat layers.
  7. Top with remaining mozzarella.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use no-boil lasagna noodles to skip step 2.
  • Substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • Freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
