Description
Honey-glazed ham is a delightful dish that combines tender ham with a rich, sticky glaze, making it a favorite for holiday feasts and family celebrations.
Ingredients
- Bone-in ham: 4 to 6 kg (about 8 to 12 lbs)
- Honey: 1 cup
- Brown sugar: 1 cup
- Dijon mustard: 1/2 cup
- Whole cloves: 1/2 cup (about 20-30 cloves)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (325°F).
- Place the bone-in ham on a large roasting pan, cut side down, and score the surface in a diamond pattern.
- Press whole cloves into the intersections of the diamond cuts.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine honey, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Stir until the sugar dissolves and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Brush half of the honey glaze over the scored surface of the ham.
- Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and bake for about 1.5 to 2 hours, basting with the remaining glaze every 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow the glaze to caramelize.
- Let the ham rest for 15-20 minutes after baking.
- Slice and serve the honey-glazed ham warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- Choose a high-quality bone-in ham for the best flavor.
- Score the ham evenly to allow the glaze to penetrate.
- Let the ham come to room temperature before baking for even cooking.
- Baste frequently for a rich, caramelized finish.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
