Ingredients
- Ground Beef: 1 lb (450 g)
- Soy Sauce: 1/4 cup (60 ml)
- Brown Sugar: 2 tablespoons (30 g)
- Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger: 1 tablespoon, grated
- Green Onions: 4, chopped (reserve some for garnish)
- Sesame Oil: 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
- Rice: 2 cups (uncooked, preferably jasmine or short-grain)
- Mixed Vegetables: 2 cups, chopped (such as bell peppers, carrots, and snap peas)
- Salt and Pepper: to taste
- Sesame Seeds: for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice with 4 cups (950 ml) of water in a pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for about 30 seconds.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and fully cooked, draining excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in soy sauce and brown sugar, mixing well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- In a separate pan, heat more sesame oil and sauté the mixed vegetables for 3-5 minutes until tender but vibrant.
- Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and divide it among serving bowls. Top with the beef mixture and sautéed vegetables.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving warm.
