Description
A comforting casserole that combines the rich flavors of meatloaf with creamy macaroni and cheese.
Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 lb (450 g)
- Macaroni: 2 cups (uncooked)
- Cheese sauce: 2 cups (store-bought or homemade)
- Breadcrumbs: 1 cup
- Eggs: 2 large
- Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley: 1/4 cup, chopped
- Salt: to taste
- Pepper: to taste
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the meatloaf mixture by combining ground beef, sautéed onion and garlic, eggs, breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
- Cook the macaroni in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- Combine the cooked macaroni with half of the cheese sauce in a large mixing bowl.
- Assemble the casserole by layering half of the meat mixture, half of the macaroni, and half of the cheese sauce in a greased baking dish. Repeat the layers.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Feel free to customize with different proteins or spices.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and baked later.
