Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb lump crab meat
- 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the lump crab meat, seasoned breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick.
- Place the formed crab cakes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat enough oil in a large skillet to cover the bottom, about 1/4 inch deep, over medium heat until it shimmers.
- Carefully add the chilled crab cakes to the hot oil and fry for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer the cooked crab cakes to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with lemon wedges and additional mayonnaise for dipping.
Notes
- Use fresh or pasteurized lump crab meat for the best flavor.
- Chilling the crab cakes helps them hold their shape while frying.
- Adjust seasoning to taste before forming the cakes.
