- 1 New York Strip Steak (about 12 oz)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary (optional)
Instructions
- Remove steak from fridge 30 minutes before cooking to reach room temperature.
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
- Rub steak with olive oil, then season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Place steak on the hot skillet or grill. Cook 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
- Add butter and rosemary (if using) to the pan in the last 2 minutes. Baste steak with melted butter.
- Remove steak and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy. Medium-rare is 130-135°F.
- Letting steak rest ensures juiciness.
