Ingredients
- Ribeye steak: 2 steaks, about 1 inch thick (approximately 500g total)
- Onions: 2 medium, thinly sliced
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
- Butter: 2 tablespoons
- Salt: to taste
- Pepper: to taste
- Potatoes: 4 medium, for fries
- Additional salt: for seasoning fries
Instructions
- Take ribeye steaks out of the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over high heat, add olive oil, and sear the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
- In a separate skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat, add sliced onions and a pinch of salt, and caramelize for 15-20 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large pot for frying, cut potatoes into thin strips, rinse in cold water, and fry in batches for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
- Slice the ribeye steaks against the grain, arrange on a serving platter, top with caramelized onions, and serve with crispy fries.
