Description

Ingredients

  • Ribeye steak: 2 steaks, about 1 inch thick (approximately 500g total)
  • Onions: 2 medium, thinly sliced
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons
  • Salt: to taste
  • Pepper: to taste
  • Potatoes: 4 medium, for fries
  • Additional salt: for seasoning fries

Instructions

  1. Take ribeye steaks out of the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over high heat, add olive oil, and sear the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  3. In a separate skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat, add sliced onions and a pinch of salt, and caramelize for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a large pot for frying, cut potatoes into thin strips, rinse in cold water, and fry in batches for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Slice the ribeye steaks against the grain, arrange on a serving platter, top with caramelized onions, and serve with crispy fries.
