- 6 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth
- 2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 8 ounces ziti or penne pasta
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the sausage by browning it in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces until no longer pink.
- Add chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the slow cooker.
- Pour in the chicken broth, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the pasta.
- Once the pasta is cooked, stir in the ricotta and Parmesan cheese.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.

- For a healthier option, turkey sausage can be used instead of Italian sausage.
