- 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 cup pizza sauce (divided)
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar (optional for extra flavor)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (for topping)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella (for topping)
- Pepperoni slices (for topping)
- Sliced jalapeños or mushrooms (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough by letting it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes, then roll it out into a large circle.
- Grease a deep cake pan or cast iron skillet and place the rolled-out dough into the pan.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and bell pepper over medium heat until browned and soft.
- Drain excess fat, then add garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup of pizza sauce. Simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Layer half of the shredded mozzarella cheese on the bottom of the dough-lined pan, then spoon the beef mixture over it.
- If using, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top of the beef mixture, then add the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Drizzle the rest of the pizza sauce over the top and add pepperoni slices and any other desired toppings.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the pizza uncovered for 35-40 minutes.
- Let the pizza cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
