Description

Tandoori chicken is a popular Indian dish made by marinating chicken in yogurt and spices, then cooking it in a tandoor oven. The result is juicy, flavorful chicken with a smoky aroma and vibrant red color.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 kg chicken (cut into pieces)
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp tandoori masala
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean and pat dry the chicken pieces.
  2. Make deep cuts on the chicken for better marination.
  3. In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, tandoori masala, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, oil, and salt.
  4. Coat the chicken pieces with the marinade and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight for best results).
  5. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) or prepare the tandoor.
  6. Place the marinated chicken on a grill rack and cook for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally.
  7. Brush with oil or butter during cooking for extra flavor.
  8. Serve hot with onion rings, lemon wedges, and mint chutney.

Notes

  • Use chicken with skin for juicier results.
  • Adjust chili powder according to your spice preference.
  • For authentic smoky flavor, cook in a tandoor or use charcoal grill.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
