Description
Tiramisu truffles are a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, combining rich mascarpone cheese, bold espresso, and a luscious dark chocolate coating.
Ingredients
- Mascarpone cheese – 1 cup (about 240g)
- Ladyfinger cookies – 1 cup, crushed (about 100g)
- Espresso – 1/2 cup, cooled (about 120ml)
- Cocoa powder – 1/4 cup (for dusting)
- Dark chocolate – 8 oz (about 225g), chopped
- Sugar – 1/4 cup (about 50g)
- Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Brew a strong cup of espresso and let it cool to room temperature.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, crushed ladyfinger cookies, cooled espresso, sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour to firm up.
- Using a cookie scoop, form small balls of the mixture and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate and place back on the baking sheet.
- Dust each truffle with cocoa powder and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to set the chocolate.
Notes
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- For a twist, consider adding flavored extracts like almond or hazelnut.
- Truffles can be made in advance and stored until ready to serve.
